Hunt/Field

As you know, Golden Retrievers were bred to be gun dogs with the ability to find waterfowl and retrieve it undamaged.  With a Golden Retrievers ability to learn and love of water, the breed is a natural when it comes to hunt and field work.  A hunt test is where the natural ability and training of your Golden Retriever is evaluated against a written standard.  Dogs are required to prove their ability to retrieve and find birds under a variety of conditions and situations.   A field trial is a event where hunting dogs compete against one another at various levels.  Retriever field trials require dogs to retrieve over longer distances following a more complex course than a Retriever hunt test.  All hunt and field events are a test of your dogs breed specific skills, instinct and ability.
